Product Overview
The Apex 40G QSFP+ SR4 module is the workhorse 40 Gigabit interface for multimode fiber. Four 10 Gigabit lanes at 850nm are carried on an MPO/MTP connector, giving 40GBASE-SR4 over 100m of OM3 or 150m of OM4.
It is the part that fills data centre halls: top of rack uplinks, spine and leaf connections, storage links and switch to switch runs inside a row. Because the port can also be broken out into four 10G links with an MPO to LC harness, the same module supports both the 40G uplink and the 4 x 10G server fan out pattern that many halls still run.
Every module is burnt in and tested per lane for optical power, extinction ratio and error rate, reports DDM readings for each lane and is coded for the host platform you name. MPO trunks, harnesses and patch cords are supplied with the modules, and CSR4, LR4, ER4, PSM4, SWDM4 and BiDi grades are available from the same line.

How far does a 40G SR4 module reach?
100m over OM3, 150m over OM4 and around 100m over OM2. For longer runs on multimode, the CSR4 grade extends the budget to 300m on OM3 and 400m on OM4.
Can I get four 10G links out of one 40G SR4 module?
Yes. With an MPO to LC breakout harness, one 40G port feeds four 10G ports. The switch configuration decides whether the port runs as 40G or as 4 x 10G.
Which MPO connector do I need, 8 or 12 fiber?
Both are supplied. 8 fiber is the more recent standard and matches 40GBASE-SR4 directly; 12 fiber suits installations standardised on older trunks. We match the module, the trunk and the harness to one polarity plan.
