APX-GTS200 Multi-Function GNSS Synchronization Clock

Product Overview

The APEX APX-GTS200 is a multi-function GNSS synchronization clock: one unit takes a satellite reference and produces the range of time and frequency signals that a substation, a transmission station or an industrial plant needs in one cabinet.

The problem it solves is mixed equipment. A single site typically contains relays and protection devices that want IRIG-B or a 1PPS contact, transmission equipment that wants a 10MHz frequency reference, supervisory systems that want E1 or TOD, and servers that would rather poll NTP. Buying and synchronising a separate source for each of those is expensive and hard to keep consistent; the APX-GTS200 gives them one disciplined origin.

The clock uses a timing grade GNSS receiver with GPS and BeiDou configurations and provides a broad output set that includes 1PPS, TOD, IRIG-B AC and DC, DCF77, NTP, E1 and 1, 5 and 10 MHz frequency outputs. Electrical interfaces are selected from the same configuration list, so the unit can be ordered with the exact mix the site requires.

It is supplied as a 1U 19 inch rack mount unit with a status display and low power consumption, and it can be delivered in a compact standalone enclosure where there is no rack to mount it in.

Applications

Substations and Protection Systems

Feeds relays, fault recorders and event logs from one reference so the sequence of a trip can be read correctly from records taken on different devices.

Transmission and Access Stations

Supplies the frequency and time references that transmission and access equipment expect, alongside NTP for the management network.

Industrial and Plant Synchronisation

Provides a common time base in plants where controllers, drives and supervisory systems otherwise keep their own clocks.

Deployment and Selection Notes

The output list is the selection criterion. Before ordering, write down what each device in the station actually accepts: a 1PPS contact, an IRIG-B pair, a 10MHz frequency reference, an E1 signal or an NTP poll. The clock is configured to that list, which is why the configuration is recorded and reused for repeat sites.

Separation matters in electrical installations. Keep the coaxial antenna cable and the timing outputs away from power and switching cables, use the surge protector at the building entry, and earth the antenna system as the site's standards require. A clock that is well installed will hold the station together; one with a poor antenna path will produce exactly the kind of intermittent faults that are hardest to diagnose.

Where the station also has an Ethernet network, take the NTP service from the same unit so servers and management systems are stamped from the same reference as the protection equipment. For packet networks that need phase as well as frequency, the PTP grandmaster clocks range covers that part of the job.

Compatibility

The APX-GTS200 is supplied against the interface list the site actually uses, and it can serve protection, transmission, industrial and network equipment from the same clock. Because the electrical form of each output is configurable, send us the device list with the signal type each one needs and we confirm the configuration, the connector set and the antenna arrangement in one document.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the APX-GTS200 different from a network time server?

A network time server mainly serves time over Ethernet. This clock is built to drive the physical signals that protection, transmission and industrial equipment use, and it also provides NTP for the network side.

Which outputs can be supplied together?

The interface list is configured per order, so 1PPS, TOD, IRIG-B, DCF77, 1, 5 and 10 MHz, NTP and E1 can be combined to match the equipment in the station.

What accuracy does the 1PPS output have?

The specified 1PPS accuracy is better than 30 ns RMS while the clock is locked to the satellite reference.

Can it be used where there is no equipment rack?

Yes. Alongside the 1U rack mount version, a compact standalone enclosure is available for stations and outdoor cabinets without a rack.

Why Choose Apex
